【Press Release】Finding genes which enhance ozone tolerance through the regulation of stomatal movement (Collaborative Research)

Prof. Masaru Ohme-Takagi has found genes which induce ozone tolerance through the regulation of stomatal movement in Arabidopsis. This study was conducted as a collaborative research with National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences(JIRCAS), National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Nagoya University, Okayama University and RIKEN. The results of the study have been published on the online publication of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on the 28th of March, 2016 (US Eastern time). Report: SAKURA Exchange Program in Science

The Sakura Exchange Program in Science (Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science), which is administered by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), was implemented at Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Saitama University from October 20th to November 9th, 2015. In this program, we hosted 2 young researchers from Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and held several technical training, such as functional analysis of plant transcription factors, operational method of LC/MS etc. Detailed report is here

Held a reporting meeting of the Division of Strategic Research and Development.

On December 2nd 2015, we held a reporting meeting of the Division of Strategic Research and Development, the graduation school of Science and Engineering at Saitama University. In this meeting, Professor Takagi, a leader of the green and environmental innovation research area, had a talk to show our research purpose, organization, research topics etc., and exchanged opinions with the audiences such as the president of the University or and other staffs.
